Rare View of the US Space Shuttle Docked to the ISS
This view of the US Space Shuttle Endeavour (or any US Space Shuttle, for that matter) was taken by Italian astronaut Paolo Nespoli as he left the International Space Station (ISS) in May in a Soyuz capsule to return to Earth.
What's rare about this view is that according to security protocol and procedures, the Soyuz capsule may not be in transit when the shuttle is present.
What makes the picture even more meaningful is that this was taken during the last mission for the shuttle Endeavour and the second to last shuttle mission ever. All the shuttles are being retired and only the shuttle Atlantis will fly once more, on its last mission as well.
The shuttle Endeavour returned to Earth on June and is being prepared to be sent to be seen in publicly display at a science museum in California.
Enjoy!

Provocative Speech at TED
What is the Internet hiding? Whether it's accidental or on purpose, MoveOn.org's Eli Pariser raised that question during his TED speech, and what he found out was quite eye-opening. I encourage you to watch it to the very end, because this can be a very serious matter that we need to find a solution to, especially in this age of self-entitlement and me-and-only-me bubbles that we already live in.

Unaired SNL Skit with Justin Timberlake
I have to admit that Justin Timberlake is a funny dude. I love when he hosts SNL because I know that we'll have a good laugh or two. Anyway, a skit that was shot during dress rehersal in last Saturday's season finale was dropped (not sure why!) and here it is below (if the embedding is not working, here is a link to the clip):
I think it's funny!

How to Know Who to Root for in Movies
I came across this article on Cracked.com about the tricks Hollywood uses in order to get audience and viewers root for the right guy in movies. It's a funny article, but ultimately, makes a lot of sense! Especially the parts in the article when the writer cites cases where the things that are happening in a certain movie don't even make sense, but they're there for a reason. And the reason seems to fit the overarching theme of the article, that Hollywood, just may actually be using those tricks to influence viewers' allegiances towards certain characters in the movies.
Here's a link to the article. Worth the read, for the laughs, and for the food for thought therein!

NSFW: Youtube Hitler Commentary on Osama's Death
If you haven't heard about Youtube Hitler, Bing him! His commentary on a wide range of issues, from American Idol to Politics, is priceless. So when news of Osama's demise came forth, he obviously had to chime in. Take it away, Adolf:

Palin? Look Again
That's actually actress Julianne Moore, taking on the role of Sarah Palin, in an upcoming movie about the 2008 John McCain presidential campaign, where he picked Sarah Palin as his running mate.
It's amazing how much Moore looks like Palin!

Mallard Duck Nests on Mulch in Front of Grocery Store
A Mallrd duck has found a great nesting place on top of a stack of mulch bags right outside a grocery store in Ohio. The nest probably has 10 or 12 eggs, and the store added a sign on the stack of mulch bags asking their customers to pick up mulch bags from a different area, so as not disturb the mother and her eggs.
What a cute story. You can find the story here.
And here's one of the pictures of the happy mother:

Sergio Ramos of Real Madrid Drops the Copa Del Rey
If you are Real Madrid, and you waited 18 years to win the Copa Del Rey, and you did it by defeating your arch nemesis and rivals Barcelona, how do you celebrate?
Champagne? Done.
Parade? Done.
Open roof bus? Done.
Drop the cup under the bus? Done and done!
Here, watch. It's a boring video, if you're a non-Real Madrid fan, but check out the :06 mark (actual dropping of the cup and bus running over it) and :40 mark (where you can kind of see the cup under the front wheel of the bus):

One of the Best Slides in Baseball
Deadspin.com has a video of a high school kid who does an awesomely creative slide at home plate during his baseball team's game. I am not able to embed the video on my blog, but here's a link to it.

SF to Paris in Two Minutes
I just saw this very cool time lapse video of a flight between SF and Paris. The photographer was able to set up a camera and a tripod on an Air France flight, and got really lucky by capturing an aurora borealis on the way.
Here's the video:

The Two Newest Boeing Airplanes Flying Side By Side
I admit that I'm an aviation fan. Have been ever since my now-pilot-on-an-Emirates-A380 friend hooked me on airplanes and the wonder of flight! And, as a Washington resident, I lean more towards Boeing airplanes than any other manufacturer (or, airframer, in industry lingo!)
So I couldn't help myself from sharing this great picture from the Boeing website, that shows their latest two airplanes, the 787 and 747-8i flying in formation, side by side. Please to enjoy:

Man, with Epilepsy, Runs London Marathon, Then Runs 99 Miles Home
This is amazing!
A British runner completed his very first marathon, the London Marathon, in just under 4 hours. Then he ran home, about 99 miles away, in just over 25 hours, for a total running time of 29 hours!
What's more, the runner, Sam Robson, 28, was dignosed with Epilepsy as a teenager. He raised over $5,000 using his run.
What a wonderful story!

World's Shortest Scheduled Flight
The world's shortest scheduled flight was recently resumed by Loganair, a Scottish carrier. The entire flight time between Westray and Papa Westray in the Orkney Islands off northern Scotland, covers a distance of less than 3km, and takes just 2min, and is captured wholly in this video:
Repurposing My Blog
Hello dear followers and Internet denizens!
It's been a very long time since I last posted. In fact, my last post below was the day Michael Jackson died. So you can tell how much that incident affected me. And, you can also tell I am still very sarcastic! (Warning: I tend to overuse exclamation marks, or points, or whatever you call them!)
So, anyway. I have decided to repurpose my blog and start linking to news items or viral videos that interest me. Maybe I'll add a little commentary to those links. Basically this will be a link dump of all the things that grab my attention.
Most of the things that do grab my attention have to do with politics, sports, intenational news and weird and quirky news. So if any of that is your cup of tea, then sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride! And, as always, comments are very welcome, and, in fact, encouraged!
Thanks!
Good Luck!
